low furniture and cool tones make the room feel very serene. mismatched sofas and chairs are much more interesting than pairs.

buckingham design clearly understands that there is no such thing as a room in a vacuum-needs to work with and compliment neighboring spaces. the white sofa and pillows are such a smart choice here since there is no wall separating the rooms-the white upholstery blends beautifully with the piano room. if the white sofa was dark blue, the space would feel choppy. and the furniture is not plush and overstuffed-each piece is slim with dark exposed wood that sort of resembles the staircase...
